CASA just hosted our first workshop of the semester!
The workshop was called
Math Games.
The
purpose of this workshop was to introduce some fun into students' math lives. One of the students said that doing math today was like "learning English without reading any stories." In the workshop, we did some activities that took mathematical thinking and put it into context of a story: Something applicable, something useful, something we can relate to, something fun.


We played Sudoku, some logic grid puzzles, and multiplication war. The entire workshop solved puzzles as a group and discussed how math games affect learning styles. We had fun trying to play multiplication war with
